In late 2024, The Grange Institution’s Mandarin foreign language students took part in the Youth Chinese Test (YCT). We are proud to share that 22% of students scored full marks in both the listening and reading categories, while 31% of students achieved full marks in at least one of those categories. This remarkable achievement reflects the students’ proficiency in Mandarin, an outcome of the quality of our Chinese language programme.
The Youth Chinese Test (YCT) is an international standardised assessment that measures Chinese language proficiency in non-native primary and middle school students. This test effectively measures Mandarin comprehension and communication skills — critical abilities for any student studying a foreign language.
